I am a nature and landscape photographer based in Niš, Serbia, with a strong commitment to capturing unique moments in ordinary places that often go unnoticed. My focus spans from small rocks to towering mountains, seas, and all other aspects of nature in various weather conditions, as I like to say the art of finding special moments in ordinary places. Started my photography journey way back in 2016, during college with portrait photography but after many attempts and even moments of defeat, I found that landscape photography is my true passion. That moment of being outside, immersing in the sound of a lake, river, or forest, and connecting with nature is an extraordinary experience for me and it propels me to continue exploring and traveling. I like to run landscape photography walks and workshops in Serbia with plans to expand that to other Balkan countries too. Besides photography, I work as a software engineer.
Aleksandar: My first experience with photography began in the 5th grade of elementary school when my father gifted me a small Samsung camera for family events. At the time I knew nothing about photography or art, just knew that brings joy to me. Three years later, I had a humorous moment with my friend Lilja where we attempted to take long-exposure photos of cars. However, while she could take 30-second exposures with her Nikon D5100 camera, I could only take 4-second long exposures with mine. Since I didn’t know enough Photoshop to combine multiple photos in order to achieve longer exposure as she could I literally quit photography. Despite this setback, I luckily didn’t give up on photography and about a month later, I picked up my camera again, and here I’m now.
Talk me through your favourite shot with NiSi filters
Aleksandar: Instead of talking about my favorite shot with NiSi filters, I’ll show you the first photo I took in San Francisco, after getting my NiSi V5 Pro system 4 years ago. Most famous bridge in the world, Marshalls beach, and about 30 photographers around me. I took out my NiSi holder from a well-made case and mounted it on my Nikon D7200. Then took out my NiSi IR ND 10-stop ND filter and made my first photo. Since that moment NiSi is my favorite piece of gear for achieving landscape photos.
NiSi UK: What is your dream location to photograph?
Aleksandar: Definitely Antarctica! I hope one day that dream will come true, but before that on my checklist are Dolomites, Tuscany, Norway, and Iceland.
