NiSi Graduated Neutral Density Filters (GND) are an indispensable tool for any landscape photographer by allowing you to overcome the limits of the dynamic range of your camera, while simultaneously capturing details in the light and dark areas of the scene. Made of high-quality lens grade optical glass, they will allow you to capture every little detail in your images without distortions or colour alterations. “Reverse” transition

Reverse filters have a definite transition between light and dark (in the centre); like Hard GND filters. But unlike hard filters, they have an upward transition to attenuate the normal light drop at the edges of the lenses. They are ideally for shooting conditions, such as sunrise and sunset, when the brightest light is on the horizon. They allow you stop down the sun and fade upwards to preserve the sky detail, whilst the transparent lower section of the filter lets you keep all the essential foreground detail. These are most effective at the wider focal lengths and are a very useful addition to complete you GND filter collection.

Construction and effects

All NiSi square filters use Nano Coating®, this wording indicates the use of the exclusive Nano Coating treatment which makes the filter water-repellent and oleophobic for perfect sharpness. NiSi filters also use IR technology, i.e. the coating that blocks infrared light, and therefore the magenta colour cast.

ND8 (or GND8 for this graduated filter), 0.9 and 3 stops are different ways to indicate the light absorption value of the filter in question.
