Magnetic Variable ND Filters – JetMag Pro System
The NiSi JetMag Pro Magnetic System is unique. It was designed by photographers with speed and safety in mind.
Before exploring the Variable ND filter, let’s highlight two key aspects of our magnetic system:
- The quick-lock system: by rotating the colored handles to align with the white line on the ring, the filter is mechanically locked and won’t detach accidentally. Moreover, if two filters have their handles aligned but one does not, only the misaligned one will detach, allowing you to remove one or more filters selectively.
- The ultra-slim design drastically reduces vignetting. We tested two filters simultaneously with the Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF and experienced no mechanical vignetting! (10mm on Full Frame!)
NiSi JetMag Pro Magnetic Variable ND Filter: Infinite Possibilities
Designed for videographers, filmmakers, wedding photographers, portrait photographers, and street photographers, the magnetic Variable ND (VND) filters are an essential tool for light control, allowing you to add effects and give a personal touch to your videos and photos when needed.
The patented NiSi JetMag Pro magnetic system is based on a simple adapter ring that screws onto your lens—we recommend keeping it mounted at all times, thanks to the convenient front cap that protects your lens.
Once the adapter is installed, you can use all NiSi JetMag filters simply by bringing them close, and they will attach magnetically. You can lock them mechanically by aligning the colored handle with the white line on the adapter ring.
JetMag Pro Vario ND (VND) 1-5 Stop
The NiSi Magnetic Vario ND has a range of 1 to 5 Stops. The proprietary film used to achieve the smooth transition from 1 to 5 Stops has high tonal homogeneity, precise colour rendition, and accuracy. This filter is also available screw on.
The Magnetic Vario-ND is a convenient way to add your filter in front of your lens quickly, and also add more filters in front of it.

JetMag Pro Vario ND (VND) 1-9 Stop Bundle Kit
Need more light reduction? No problem! Add a 4-stop JetMag ND filter to the 1-5 stop VND, and you’ll get an extended range of 5-9 stops. By purchasing the bundle, you can achieve 1 to 9 stops by adding a filter.
You might think, why not create a 1-9 stop Variable ND filter directly?
This option is not suitable for NiSi quality standards because it introduces the so-called “X effect” or “cross effect,” which, at such wide ranges, degrades the image with unwanted artefacts and colour shifts.

If you want to make the most of every moment, the 4-stop filter and Black Mist 1/8 are the perfect companions to the NiSi magnetic Variable ND filter. You’ll achieve up to 9 stops of light reduction, as well as the Black Mist effect, all with minimal vignetting.

Reflections reduction included, rotate the whole filter for polarisation
The JetMag Pro VND also functions as a circular polariser. Once you have set your desired ND strength, simply rotate the entire filter to control reflections and glare, which is ideal for water, windows, or reflective surfaces. It is two filters in one, built into a single compact design.
