NiSi JetMag Pro Magnetic filter system
Good light doesn’t last. With JetMag Pro the filter snaps on in a second and locks with a small turn: it stays put in the wind, with gloves on, with two filters stacked. In front of the lens there’s NiSi glass: neutral colours and a coating that repels water and reflections.
The JetMag Pro magnetic filter system is designed for photographers and filmmakers who need speed, stability and versatility from their filters. Ideal for landscapes, astrophotography, filmmaking and much more.
Key features of the JetMag Pro filter system
- Innovative magnetic design: filters go on and come off quickly. The multicoloured tabs help you tell the filters apart, on the lens and in the case.
- Secure locking mechanism: with the patented lock the filters stay firmly in place, even stacked and in tough conditions.
- Ultra-slim mount for wide-angle lenses: two filters with no vignetting down to 15mm.
- Adaptable to different lenses: 49, 67, 82 and 95mm filters, compatible with threads from 39 to 95mm. For the Sony 14mm f1.8 GM, Canon RF 14 F1.4 L and Nikon Z 14-24 f2.8 there’s the MaxMag size.
- Nano-Coating technology: reduces reflections and improves sharpness, for photography and filmmaking.
- Protective metal caps: front and rear, they protect the filters when not in use and in your backpack.
Designed by NiSi around the needs of photographers and filmmakers, JetMag Pro is an essential tool for professionals and enthusiasts alike.

How do JetMag Pro magnetic filters work?
NiSi JetMag Pro magnetic filters don’t screw onto the lens: it all starts with an adapter ring, threaded on the lens side and magnetic on the filter side. So you can use the filter in the size of your widest lens and adapt it to the smaller ones. To avoid unnecessary spending there are four sizes, 49, 67, 82 and 95mm, plus MaxMag for lenses without a filter thread.

FAQ
Which size should I choose?
Check your widest lens: if it has an 82mm front thread choose size 82; if you have an 86 or 95mm lens choose 95. You can always add more rings to use the same filters on all your lenses.
What is the MaxMag size?
It’s designed for ultra-wide lenses without a filter thread, like the Sony 14mm f1.8 GM, the Canon RF 14 F1.4 L and the Nikon Z 14-24 f2.8. The Landscape ND Kit MaxMag includes the specific ring for your lens: no vignetting with 2 filters on the Sony, with 3 on the Nikon.
How do I lock and unlock the filters?
Mount the filter with the coloured tabs at 45 degrees to the white lines on the adapter, then turn it until the tab lines up with the white line: the filter is locked and can’t be removed. With more filters, line up the tabs and turn them together. To unlock, turn the tabs away from the white line. You don’t need to lock while shooting, but we suggest doing it when travelling.
Locked: the coloured tabs are on the white lines of the adapter and the filter won’t come off. Recommended when travelling. Unlocked: the tabs are at 45° from the white lines. The magnet holds the filter, and to remove it you just pull the tabs.
What is the ProLock Luminous ring?
It has phosphorescent lock markings that glow in the dark and a wider locking area, for quick alignment even without light. Ideal for night, astrophotography and video, especially with CPL and VND. Available for 82mm magnetic rings, in 82, 77, 72, 67 and 58mm.
Locked: the tabs are inside the luminous area of the ProLock ring, which you can see even in the dark. The filter won’t come off. Unlocked: the tabs are in the free zone, outside the luminous area. The magnet holds the filter, and to remove it you just pull the tabs.
Can I use more than one filter at a time?
Yes, JetMag Pro filters are all compatible with each other. Two filters don’t vignette down to 15mm. Below 15mm, or with more filters, turn the coloured tabs about 45 degrees towards the corners of the frame to minimise vignetting.
How many stops can I reach with the variable ND?
The Magnetic Variable ND filter adjusts the light from 1 to 5 stops. Add a 4-stop ND and you reach 9 stops, or more with a stronger ND. It combines with Mist and Night filters. More on the Magnetic Vario ND →
Can I use square filters?
Yes: the Holder lets you use one 100x150mm GND filter with your 82 or 95mm JetMag Pro, with no vignetting with a JetMag ND, a True Color CPL and a GND.
What are the caps for?
Front caps keep the rings on the lens: one front cap for each lens, plus one for any ring you want to keep ready. With a front and a rear cap you protect one or more filters in your bag.
Are there filters for black and white?
Yes: the yellow, orange and red colour filters control contrast and tonal rendering in camera, bring out the sky and separate the subject from the background. In 49mm, single or in a kit.

Needed because you can't use the normal lens cap without unscrewing the adaptor, which would be annoying. Easy enough to use, my main concern is that the finger grips get in the way of mounting the lens hood, but that's not the end of the world. The locking in place, although not the most secure mechanism in the world, is useful for storage.

Notably it's much less likely to fall off in a breeze, but the quality instantly gave me visible sun spots and autofocus on the solar disk, which the film approach couldn't manage. Removing this is quick (which may be important in the next eclipse), so long as I don't accidentally align the grips with the lock points on the mount – but they're also useful to ensure the filter can't fall off (which would be anoying in a bag because the normal lens cap doesn't fit with the adaptor in place, and potentially catastrophic with a reasonably large telephoto pointing at the sun). Seems to work well with a Nikkor 500mm f/5.6, and I don't think the sensor has been damaged by the experiments, although it still needs a reasonably fast shutter speed. It has the same minor issue as the lens cap, that you can't get a lens hood (at least of the 500mm) over the finger grips, but that's more a problem for storage than active use since a hood would get in the way of being able to remove the filter.

It's… an adaptor ring. It doesn't get in the way of the hood. It fits the lens. Not much to go wrong, but it does it fine.
