Cautions
It is important to note that the filter is not appropriate for direct solar observation with the naked eye, and should exclusively be used for photographic purposes.
Check the solar filter for damage before each use by holding it up to a bright light (not the sun). Secure the filter properly by screwing it fully onto the lens.
The NiSi Solar Filter is not suitable eye protection for extended view of sun or solar eclipses. Do not look directly or indirectly into the sun without appropriate eye protection.
The Solar Filter should be installed in front of the camera lens or telescope before trying to align it with the sun. Point the camera away from sun when attaching and removing the solar filter.
Do not use an optical viewfinder when aligning your camera or telescope with the sun. It is recommended to use the live view feature of the camera for aligning it with the sun and for viewing.
Do not leave a camera unattended where a child or inexperienced adult could point it at the sun without the filter adequately attached.
The filter may absorb solar energy and get hot during use. Use extra care when removing it.
IR treatment
IR treatment blocks the wavelengths of infrared light. Although invisible to the human eye, it can ruin photos (especially long exposure) if it reaches the sensor. Infrared light is the main culprit of the magenta dominant colours present in shots created with low quality filters that do not use this treatment.
Nano Coating®
Thanks to the Nano® treatment, the water is not spread on the surface of the filter, but remains compact and easy to remove. The Nano® treatment makes NiSi filters weather-resistant and ready for any situation.

Much better results, and much more convenient to use, than trying to tape solar filter film into a piece of cardboard and then tape the cardboard to the lens (as for the last partial eclipse visible from my location). Notably it's much less likely to fall off in a breeze, but the quality instantly gave me visible sun spots and autofocus on the solar disk, which the film approach couldn't manage. Removing this is quick (which may be important in the next eclipse), so long as I don't accidentally align the grips with the lock points on the mount - but they're also useful to ensure the filter can't fall off (which would be anoying in a bag because the normal lens cap doesn't fit with the adaptor in place, and potentially catastrophic with a reasonably large telephoto pointing at the sun). Seems to work well with a Nikkor 500mm f/5.6, and I don't think the sensor has been damaged by the experiments, although it still needs a reasonably fast shutter speed. It has the same minor issue as the lens cap, that you can't get a lens hood (at least of the 500mm) over the finger grips, but that's more a problem for storage than active use since a hood would get in the way of being able to remove the filter.

The filter worked extremely well for the eclipse.
