NiSi Graduated Neutral Density Filters (GND) are an indispensable tool for any landscape photographer by allowing you to overcome the limits of the dynamic range of your camera, while simultaneously capturing details in the light and dark areas of the scene. Made of high-quality lens grade optical glass, they will allow you to capture every little detail in your images without distortions or colour alterations. Perfect when combined with a NiSi filter holder, NiSi graduated neutral density (GND) filters are compatible with relevant third-party that support 2mm thick filters.

Construction and effects

All NiSi square filters use Nano Coating®, this wording indicates the use of the exclusive Nano Coating treatment which makes the filter water-repellent and oleophobic for perfect sharpness. NiSi filters also use IR technology, i.e. the coating that blocks infrared light, and therefore the magenta colour cast.

ND8 (or GND8 for this graduated filter), 0.9 and 3 stops are different ways to indicate the light absorption value of the filter in question.

The special Nano Coating coating on both sides minimises unwanted reflections and gives the NiSi neutral density filters the characteristic of being water-repellent and oleophobic. “Hard” transition

Hard filters have a sharper transition between light and dark than Medium and Soft filters. They are the most suitable GND filters in sharp light situations. In case of a fairly defined line of demarcation between light and shadow, they are the most suitable filters. They can’t be missing in a proper filter kit.
