Lens Hood Kit III for Fujifilm X100 Series: NC UV Filter, Square Lens Hood and Magnetic Cap

The NiSi Lens Hood Kit III for Fujifilm X100 Series brings together three parts: an NC UV filter with a 49mm front thread, a square metal hood with a new patented locking mechanism, and a magnetic metal cap. Each part is machined for the X100 and finished in silver or black to match the camera.

A hood that locks, not a push fit

The big change in this third generation is how the hood attaches. It is no longer a friction fit: the square hood engages a patented lock on the filter and stays put. It will not rotate out of square, work loose in your bag or shift when you lift the camera by its strap.

The classic X100 profile

The kit fits the X100, X100S, X100F, X100T, X100V and X100VI. The square hood gives the camera back the rangefinder profile it is known for, and the finish matches the body: once fitted, it looks as if it came in the box with the camera.

NC UV filter in optical glass

At the base of the kit is a NiSi NC UV filter in optical glass that screws straight onto the lens. Multi-layer nano coatings keep light transmittance at 99.3%: it cuts haze, holds contrast and takes the dust, spray and knocks your front element would otherwise take.

49mm thread for more filters

The front of the UV filter has a standard 49mm thread, so a polariser, ND or close-up filter screws straight on with nothing to take apart. The protection stays in place, you add the filter the shot needs and take it off again without touching the camera.

Room for close focusing

The X100 lens barrel moves forward as you focus close, and a filter that sits too deep would stop it. This kit leaves the internal clearance that movement needs, so you reach the minimum focus distance with the filter and the hood fitted.

Magnetic cap, protection in one motion

The metal cap holds itself to the kit with magnets. No clip to line up, no fit to work loose: it comes off in one motion when a picture appears and goes back the same way when you are done.

Water and oil repellent coating

The outer coating repels water and grease: rain beads and rolls off instead of drying into spots, and fingerprints stay on the surface. One wipe with a cloth and the glass is clean again, even after a wet or crowded day.

Machined metal, and the original cap still fits

Every part is machined metal, finished in silver or black. And the practical detail is still there: take the hood off and the original Fujifilm X100 cap fits straight onto the UV filter. On the street with the hood locked on, travelling light with just the filter and the original cap, or up close with the barrel out, the kit keeps the camera protected and out of your mind.
