NiSi Explorer Collection 100x150mm Medium GND8 (0.9) 3 Stop Filter
NiSi Graduated Neutral Density Filters (GND) are the indispensable tool for any landscape photographer by allowing you to overcome the limits of the dynamic range of your camera, while simultaneously capturing details in the light and dark areas of the scene. Made of high-quality lens grade optical glass, they will allow you to capture every little detail in your images without distortions or colour alterations. Perfect when combined with a NiSi filter holder, NiSi graduated neutral density (GND) filters are compatible with relevant third-party that support 2mm thick filters.
Medium transition filters have an intermediate transition between the light and dark parts; less clear than Hard filters and more accentuated than Soft filters. These are essential GND filters for and photographer’s kit bag and are excellent on their own in the event of framing a scene without clearly defined light and dark areas. They are also great in combination with Hard or Soft GND filters.
ND8, 0.9 and 3 stops are different ways to indicate the light absorption value of the filter in question.
Construction
The NiSi Explorer Collection 100x150mm Nano IR Medium Graduated Neutral Density Filter – GND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is part of our Explorer Series for made for adventure. The filters feature a special glass hardening process that makes them double the strength of a typical glass filter. The Explorer series are much less prone to accidental breakage and perfect for active photographers.
The NiSi Explorer Collection 100x150mm Nano IR Medium Graduated Neutral Density Filter – GND8 (0.9) – 3 Stop is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a medium-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a medium-edged line of transition is particularly useful for images that feature buildings, small mountains and other elements that protrude into high into the skyline. The transition zone of a medium is 40% smaller than a Soft GND and is wonderful for shooting at sunrise and sunset.
NiSi GND filters do not affect the colouration of the image, offer a true to life colour and are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) with nano coating to prevent losing any single bit of detail. By using a neutral density filter the camera is vulnerable to infrared light which will cast the unwanted red colour to the photos when shooting at a small aperture. NiSi GND filters have an infrared protection coating layer to eliminate the infrared light through the lens to bring back the natural true to life colour.
The NiSi 100mm filter system is great for cameras with lenses that have a standard filter thread from 49 mm to 95mm.
This 100x100mm filter is compatible with the NiSi 100mm filter system.
Unique on the market
Thanks to the very high chromatic correspondence and absence of dominant colours, you can finally say goodbye to impractical and time-consuming colour corrections in post-production. NiSi filters do not degrade the image and your lens and photographic sensor will always work at maximum of their potential. The NiSi Explorer Collection is made from B270 tempered glass. It features the same Nano coating process as our optical glass filters. This filter is tempered and hardened making it much less prone to accidental damage but this does not mean it is unbreakable. After a long period of time, the hardening may decline.
Weatherproof
The Nano® Coating treatment gives the filter the quality of repelling water and oils, making cleaning very easy even in extreme conditions or with the presence of seawater. The finishing of the edges and the rounded corners improve the resistance of the filter and the grip. Our filters and holders are born to be used outdoors, in any weather situation, enjoy photography in its purest essence.
