NiSi 15mm f/4 ASPH

Stagnate or Innovate

What a year 2020 was!

And no, we’re not talking about viruses or politics, we’re talking about a record breaking year for NiSi in product innovation.

Stagnate or Innovate

When companies across the world were battening down the hatches and “waiting for the sun come out”, we didn’t just maintain our rate of product development – we accelerated it!

NiSi customers new and old have come to expect a high standard of product and for their brand of choice to be at the forefront of product development.  We have no intention of letting them down.

Let’s have a look at just a few of the amazing new products NiSi have delivered to the industry in the last twelve months.

Pro Nano ND-Vario Enhance 5-9 Stop

Variable NiSi ND-VARIO filters with Nano-coating in optical glass

The Pro Nano Variable in 5-9 Stops
A variable ND filter that allows photographers to create long exposure photographs and lets videographers control the light in real time without the need to change filters.

Compact Cameras Kits

For users of the ever more popular compact cameras, we created custom designed kits for three of the most popular compact cameras on the market; the Sony RX100 MKVI & MKVII, the Ricoh GRIII and the Fuji X100 series. These awesome kits, featuring our lens grade optical glass filters and custom holders all in a pocket sized pouch, rapidly became some of our fastest selling products. And, with the recent UK release of individual filters for these kits, we don’t see interest in the compact camera kits slowing down any time soon!

Macro Close-ups and Rail

Macro Photographers weren’t left out in the cold either. The 77mm Close-up lens was released with much praise a little earlier and we added to the Macro product line-up with the 58mm Close-up lens and the highly praised NM-180 Focusing Rail. This last item has gone out of stock more times that we care to count, sorry, and interest continues to grow. Towards the end of 2020 we revisited the 77mm Close up lens and now, with no price increase (!) the kit includes front and rear lens caps.

So, three custom filter kits, an advanced variable ND, a macro lens and a focusing rail. For most companies that scale of products development would represent a pretty good year. For us, that barely scratches the surface

Let’s continue……..

Natural Pro Nano CPL

Our polarisers have always been highly praised with the Landscape Enhanced filter, included in the V6 Landscape Enhance kit, delivers exactly what most landscape photographers need, a high degree of clarity, 99.9% polarisation and enhancement of two of the most important tones in landscape photography – the blues and the greens.

But what about other genres of photography that require polarisation, however require a more true to life representation of colours? Enter the NiSi Natural CPL. The same pro levels of polarisation but this time we have engineered a filter that reverses the colour enhancement inherent in all polarisers to give you the polarisation you need and the colours you see with the naked eye.

NiSi S6 Series, for 150mm wide filters

Towards the end of the year we kicked it up a gear and released the much anticipated S6 Series of filter holders for ultra-wide lenses. It’s older brother, the S5, had already redefined filter use on these wide barrel lenses by allowing photographers to manage the light like never before with a clever system, custom designed for each lens, that gave the photographer use of two square filters and a rear mounted polariser.

With the S6 we have made substantial improvements including a more secure locking system and flocking to minimise reflections and glare. Launched initially for the Sony 12-24 f/2.8 GM, solutions for nine more ultra wide lenses and threaded lenses, soon followed.

Take a look at the short preview below and see the full S6 Line up here.

Nikon Z 14-24 f72.8 S 100mm Holder

To cap off 2020, we can’t forget a product that created more demand in the run up to a launch than we had seen all year. The 100mm system for the Nikon Z 14-24 f/2.8 S. This purpose designed holder system gives users of this fantastic lens the opportunity to use two 100mm filters on a very wide lens with no vignette – this was no small feat of engineering and demand for this system has been relentless since we launched in early December 2020.

Quick release plate and 112mm filters

Going into 2021 we are still developing and have ALREADY launched a cracking little quick release plate, a critical but often overlooked accessory, a host of 112mm filters for the Nikon Z 14-24 S and redesigned Nikon Z 14-24 S lens hood – an aluminium alloy constructed hood with no gaps for light to penetrate and internal flocking to reduce glare. And it even still works with the Nikon LC-Z1424 lens cap!

Stagnate or Innovate

And that’s about it.

No, hold on, there is one other little product we should mention…

The NiSi 15mm f/ASPH Wide Angle Sunstar lens!

NiSi 15mm f/4 ASPH

This amazing lens, already receiving rave reviews from reviewers takes all of NiSi’s optical knowledge and gives photographers an authentic product at an incredible price.

When it comes to photographic products, companies have two choices; stagnate or innovate.
