NiSi wide angle 15mm f/4 ASPH lens

All of NiSi’s optical knowledge and experience is expressed in the ultra wide-angle NiSi 15mm f/4 ASPH lens. A lens that focuses on first-rate features and paying attention to what matters; namely the quality of the materials and the quality of the glass.

Full metal barrel, optical glass for precision applications delivering optimum sharpness across the frame, construction with 12 elements in 10 groups, one aspherical element and two very low dispersion elements are just some of the features of the NiSi 15mm f/4 ASPH. Here are the main features:

  • Compatible with both Full Frame and APS-C cameras (15mm focal length on Full Frame, 22mm on APS-C)
  • Mechanical ring for aperture diaphragm adjustment
  • One aspherical and two ultra-low dispersion elements in optical glass
  • 10-blade diaphragm, designed to optimise light at any aperture
  • Generous focal range 112 ° on Full-Frame, closer to the 14/14.5mm focal length
  • Minimum focusing distance of 20cm, for shots with very close subjects
  • Distortion contained and reduced to a minimum
  • 72mm front thread for use with both circular filters and the NiSi 100mm system for square filters

10 blades aperture

The diaphragm has been designed with 10 straight blades to obtain the star effect on points of light at any aperture, as well as maximising sharpness over the entire frame and aperture range. In addition, there is the mechanical ring of the aperture diaphragm, with the possibility of manual adjustment, perfect for precise adjustment and video use.

Sharpness and NiSi optical quality

Thanks to a proprietary design of 12 elements in 10 groups, with 1 aspherical element and 2 very low dispersion elements, sharpness is very high, with great performance even at the edges. The anti-reflective treatment reduces flares and internal reflections. As the NiSi 15mm f/4 ASPH lens manages optical distortion, it is also great for architectural photography.

NiSi quality at this price?

The production of a lens is extremely complex: many people, suppliers and skills are involved (much more than a filter, for example.) The simplest way to create a new product is to use third party knowledge as much as possible and then apply a brand and mark-up. NiSi, on the other hand, has once again chosen a different path by managing the project internally as much as possible. This allows us to deliver a great advantage to the customer: reduced cost.

The more complex the product, the more we will be able to save resources by managing it internally. This involves above average development times, but the results are of the quality that distinguishes NiSi products.

For the NiSi 15mm f/4 ASPH lens, we focused on what’s really important: the glass, the metal and as few electronics as possible. Although there are dozens of “smart” lenses available today, we believe that the fundamental aspects are the ones to invest in as they are the ones that make a product of superior quality; optical quality, construction accuracy and ease of use. Not using autofocus, stabilisation and other electronic aids have allowed us to offer a price that we believe is proportionate and the quality of lens grade optical glass is the same that existing NiSi customers have become accustomed to in our filters. As ever, our ultimate goal is delivering our customers’ professional products at reasonable prices.

Transparency and trust are among our founding values, and we are always available to answer your questions on any aspect of our passion for photography.
