The polarising filter is one of the most commonly used filters in photography, regardless of the photographic genre. A polarising filter is a versatile tool that can significantly improve image quality by reducing unwanted reflections and enhancing colours and contrast. It has various applications, from removing reflections on glass and water surfaces to increasing the contrast of clouds in the sky and enhancing the saturation of vegetation.

The NiSi catalogue features three different polarisers: the MC PRO Nano HUC C-PL (High Ultra Clarity), the UHC C-PL circular polariser (Ultra Hard Coating), and our flagship product, the True Color Nano Pro CPL polariser.

Caution: Using a polarising filter requires some care. With wide-angle lenses or in clear skies, darker areas may appear in the image, which could be mistaken for a filter malfunction. In reality, this effect is completely normal and is more pronounced in high-quality filters, which offer greater polarisation. In these cases, it is advisable to rotate the filter to find the optimal position or, if necessary, not use it at all. There will be plenty of other opportunities to use the polarising filter with excellent results.

What are the CPL filters for?

Thanks to the use of NiSi CPL Polarising Filters, you can enhance the quality of your images. Some of the effects you can achieve include:

  • Reduction of reflections on non-metallic surfaces, such as water and glass.
  • Increased colour saturation, making colours more vivid and intense.
  • Enhancement of colour saturation, making colours more vibrant and intense.
  • Elimination of glare, reducing scattered light in the atmosphere.
  • Improvement of visual clarity by removing atmospheric haze.

Three CPL for every occasion

Our team of professionals has developed three CPL polarising filters to ensure you achieve the desired effect every time! Each filter offers specific features to meet various photographic needs. The three polarisers are:

Multi Coated PRO Nano HUC
C-PL (High Ultra Clarity)

Featuring a very slim design, this CPL filter has a multi-layer coating that reduces reflections and ensures vivid colours. Made with high-quality HUC (High Ultra Clarity) optical glass, it guarantees no loss of definition!

Circular Polariser UHC
C-PL (Ultra Hard Coating)

With coatings that ensure very high light transmission and special scratch protection, this polariser represents the optimal choice for those seeking a quality product at a competitive price.

POLARISATION 99.9%

True Color Polariser Nano Pro CPL

This filter is designed to keep colours as natural as possible without introducing colour casts, thanks to True Color technology. It ensures reduced reflections and exceptional colour saturation, making it perfect for landscape and architectural photography. It is also available with a SWIFT mount!

POLARISATION 99.9%

Please note that stacking circular filters is not recommended. Although the filters have a front thread, 100% compatibility is not guaranteed when stacking multiple filters.

If you need to use multiple circular filters simultaneously, we recommend using filters with the SWIFT push-fit mount. The True Color Polariser is available for this system.

CIRCULAR ND ND64 (1.8) + CPL PRO Nano HUC IR (6 Stop)

NiSi has created a filter for those who want to combine polarising and ND effects without using two separate filters: the NiSi Pro Nano IR ND64 + CPL filter integrates a polariser with an ND effect of 6 stops (ND64). This filter is available only with a 6-stop ND density, as higher densities would make it difficult to assess the polarising effect and focus before taking the shot. To combine a polariser with ND filters of different densities, it is recommended to use filters with the SWIFT mount.

Made with high-quality neutral optical glass, the NiSi ND64 + CPL circular screw-on filter is perfect for achieving creative effects such as:

  • Reducing depth of field in bright lighting conditions
  • Controlling shutter speeds in videos and time-lapses
  • Making water appear silky-smooth
  • Adding motion effects to clouds
  • In addition to the effects mentioned above, you can also control reflections thanks to the integrated polariser.
