NiSi WIZARD W-63, W-72, W-82D and W-82M | Horizontal/Vertical Rotation Bracket

NiSi Wizard is the perfect solution for photographers and content creators who frequently shoot in landscape and portrait format.

The Wizard is a rotating collar that attaches to the camera body and allows you to easily switch from portrait to landscape orientation without having to remove it from the tripod head. This function is particularly useful for landscape, still life and studio portrait photographers who need to quickly change camera orientation.

Unlike traditional L-brackets, the NiSi Wizard is designed to work perfectly with cameras equipped with fully articulating screens, allowing the screen to be tilted without compromise. When positioned at 180 degrees, the Wizard can also be used for macro or low-angle shots.

The NiSi Wizard is equipped with tactile indicators at 0°, 90° and 180° to ensure correct alignment. In addition, the camera is mounted with the sensor positioned in the centre of the Wizard to ensure the central point of the image as a fixed point. The Wizard has a rubber ring on the inside to provide protection for your lens.

The Wizard is constructed of aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, making it strong and light. The mounting is Arca-Swiss compatible and provides wide compatibility with most tripod heads and clamps on the market. It also features a 1/4″ mount that allows any quick release plate to be attached, making it compatible with almost any tripod.

Compatibility recommendation for W-63

The outer diameter of the lens mount must be smaller than the inner diameter of the WIZARD. The internal diameter of the NiSi Wizard W-63 is 63 mm – lenses with an external diameter of the mount greater than 63 mm cannot be mounted and may require the W-72. To check lens compatibility, measure around the lens near the mount to ensure it is less than 63 mm.
Examples of already tested cameras, the already specified mount diameter suggestions remain valid:

  • Sony A cameras, Canon M
  • Most Sony E-mount lenses are compatible. Some third party manual lenses have a large diameter and cannot be installed, please refer to the diameter instructions

Compatibility recommendation for W-72

The outer diameter of the lens mount must be smaller than the inner diameter of the WIZARD. The internal diameter of the NiSi Wizard W-72 is 72 mm – it is not possible to mount lenses with an external mount diameter greater than 72 mm. To check lens compatibility, measure around the lens near the mount to ensure that it is less than 72 mm.
Examples of already tested cameras, the already specified mount diameter suggestions remain valid:

  • Fujifilm X cameras
  • Nikon Z
  • Panasonic S5
  • Leica SL/SL2

Compatibility recommendation for W-82D

The outer diameter of the lens mount must be smaller than the inner diameter of the WIZARD. The internal diameter of the NiSi Wizard W-82 is 82 mm – it is not possible to mount lenses with an external mount diameter greater than 82 mm. To check lens compatibility, measure around the lens near the mount to ensure that it is less than 82 mm.

The difference with the W-82M is the longer tripod attachment plate in the W-82D version compared to the W-82M. This makes the Wizard W-82D recommended for Reflex (DSLR) camera bodies.
To check lens compatibility, measure around the lens near the mount to ensure it is less than 82 mm.

Compatibility recommendation for W-82M

The outer diameter of the lens mount must be smaller than the inner diameter of the WIZARD. The internal diameter of the NiSi Wizard W-82 is 82 mm – it is not possible to mount lenses with an external mount diameter greater than 82 mm. To check lens compatibility, measure around the lens near the mount to ensure that it is less than 82 mm.

The difference with the W-82D is the shorter tripod attachment plate in the W-82M version compared to the W-82D. This makes the Wizard W-82M recommended for Mirroless camera bodies.
To check lens compatibility, please measure around the lens near the mount to ensure it is less than 82mm.

Example of cameras already tested, the mount diameter suggestions already specified remain valid:

  • Canon Mirrorless cameras R (except R3 with built-in battery grip

IMPORTANT: Some lenses have a switch or button on the side; if the switch button is close to the camera (within 2 cm), it may be covered by the camera bracket. If the focus/zoom ring of some lenses is very close to the camera adapter (within 2 cm), it may be covered. The use of battery grips or cameras with built-in battery grips is NOT compatible. Medium format cameras such as the Fujifilm GFX are NOT compatible. The space between your fingers and the camera grip may be reduced; a tripod is recommended for most models.

Known Compatibility Notices

  1. Some lenses have a switch or button on the side; if the switch button is close to the camera (within 2 cm), it may be covered by the Wizard. If the focus/zoom ring of some lenses is very close to the camera adapter (within 2 cm), it may be covered.
  2. The use of battery grips or cameras with integrated battery grips is NOT compatible.
  3. Medium format cameras such as the Fujifilm GFX are NOT compatible.
  4. The space between the fingers and the camera grip is small, so for most models it is recommended to use the camera on a tripod and not hand-held.
  5. Not compatible with cameras where the tripod mount is not aligned with the centre of the sensor/lens mount (e.g. Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II).
  6. For the W-82M, in the case of DSLRs with Flash, use the length of the plate to gain the necessary space to avoid contact between the Wizard ring and Flash housing. (e.g. Nikon D780)
  7. When working with a telephoto lens that exceeds 200mm or weighs more than 1kg, we recommend using the collar originally supplied with the lens, it will ensure a more stable shooting experience.
  8. Not compatible with the Nikon FTZ adapters or any lens adapters that are not in round shape and exceed the mm recommended for the Wizard model
  9. We recommend watching the instructional videos for installing and adjusting the Wizard, below.

Instruction to install the Wizard to your camera:

It is advisable to use the original tripod collar supplied with the lens when working with a long lens that exceeds 200 mm or weighs more than 1 kg, as it will ensure a more stable shooting experience.
